I’ll give y’all the short version of this story. I was single and seeking to improve my relationship with God. I wasn’t focused on finding the man of my dreams although I had made a detailed letter to God of everything I wanted in a husband. Trev and I were introduced by our friends and I knew the first week that he was the one. Of course, I didn’t tell him that, but I sure told my mom. We stayed up talking until the break of day. I felt so comfortable with him and for the first time in my life I let it all out.
I observed as he opened the door for everyone, not just me. He respected the elderly, and always gave showed his appreciation for people. One night in Walmart I placed deodorant on a chip rack after I changed my mind about the purchase. He picked up the deodorant, walked across the store, and put it back in place. “You don’t want someone to make it home late to their family because you changed your mind”. I wasn’t offended. I was impressed. How considerate! I needed this type of man in my life. I struggled with being selfless and Mr. Selfless walked right in to my life. The rest is history. Ten years and two kids later I am still developing and I contribute a lot of my growth to him.
It’s imperative that I thank you Trev, for being so supportive during our journey. Thank you for transitioning with me and loving me when I was unsure of who I was and what I was called to do. Thank you for pushing me to further my career and not settle. We’ve transitioned from two reckless young adults into God fearing parents committed to serving one another.
My love you are all that I ever imagined I would need in this life and more. Always down for an impromptu photo session, entertaining my ‘Dora the Explorer’ excursions, but also correcting and helping me become the best version of MYSELF. I haven’t matched a person on the planet with
your patience, love, long suffering, and understanding. To add to the list of ‘amazingness’ that you are, watching you as a father has inspired me more than you know. I thought I had the best dad on the planet, but you my love him a run for his money.
Thank you for being a leader. Thank you for being an example. Thank you for loving and caring for us. I wouldn’t be what I am had it not been for you standing in my corner.
Love you always all ways.
